Human Rights Support Org. Corp. (HRS Org) would like to invite short-film submissions (of up to five minutes in length, excluding credits) for “The First Human Rights International Film Contest”.
The major theme for this contest is “Human Rights: Grim Present, Hopeful Future!”
The Applicants (film-makers) are highly encouraged to observe and illustrate the human right of their choice and the violations thereof, AND also render solutions that spark light into future paths to tackling/eradicating the issue(s) and/or show the hopeful horizons at sight for a promising future for mankind.

Submissions will be reviewed by a Committee of experts in the film industry (the members will be announced in the future). A $400, $200 and $100 CAD cash award and the HRS Org’s Human Rights Support Award (Carved Tablet) will be awarded respectively to the short-film that would rank the first to three based on the panel of judges’ selection.
Rules & Regulations
- There is no fee for participating in the contest. It is completely free.
- All genres are accepted.
- Short-films must be maximum five minutes long, excluding credits.
- Short-films submitted to the contest must be produced after Jan 01, 2018.
- Films available on the internet are not eligible.
- The screening format can be one of the following: MPEG-4, MPEG-2, MPEG-1, AVI, VOB, VRO, ASF, WMV, WMV HD, MOV, MOD, TOD AVCHD, AVC (H.264), DV-AVI, DAT, .ts, .mts, .m2ts.
- Two copies must be submitted: one the best quality (preferably HD or higher) and one with a suitable size and format for easy online and Youtube playback to enable viewers in the countries with lower internet speed/bandwidth.
- Short-films can be submitted from all countries.
- Short-films can be silent or in any language; however, an English subtitle is mandatory for non-English films.
- Two film stills and one director’s mug shot are expected to be sent with the submission. Sending the mug shot is not mandatory.
- Each Applicant is allowed to submit up to three films to the contest.
- Shipping costs, in case of sending the submissions via postal services, shall be borne by the Applicant. The delivered digital storage media (CD, DVD, Memory Stick, etc.) will not be returnable.
NB: The copyright of the submissions will continue to be owned by their respective producers/owners. However, all producers/owners of the submitted short-films hereby grant Human Rights Support Org. Corp. the non-exclusive unconditional right to upload any of the short-films, at HRS Org’s discretion, on the HRS Org’s website, Youtube channels, and its social media network free of charge.
